For someone who works in Higher Education, I get very excited at the end of the year when all the students leave. I really enjoy Corvallis in the summer - it's quiet, comfortable, and I don't have to worry about randomly running into people around town. A friend of mine suggested I start a new tradition of going to a local bar the first night after graduation and taking back the town. I may just have to do this.
The summer months are a time when we can sit back and reflect on everything that has happened over the year. The pace of life on a college campus is so fast - it makes sense that there needs to be a recovery time before we do it all over again.
Soon enough, the students will be back, the leaves will be changing color, and a new year will begin. For now, I fully intend to enjoy this short reprieve.
