Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

I did something very unexpected today - I posted my resume on Monster.com. Why did I do this? While I love what I do for a living (and feel like I do it well), I am curious about what other opportunities are out there. Is there something else I could be doing that could utilize my skills? Is there something else I should be doing? I started out in Higher Education almost by accident over 7 years ago. In some fashion or another, I have been doing the same thing that whole time. I know I have gotten comfortable in my role, and while I still feel I exceed expectations, I don't want to get stuck in complacency.

How often do we have the opportunity to get our name out there without being in some desperate need of a job? I realized recently that I have never had to work to find a job. Everything I've ever done - be it a customer service representative at Blockbuster Video (again, no judging!) to working as a Higher Education Administrator - basically recruited me. I'm not trying to be vain (evidently this is just a natural gift), because I know how rare this is. Maybe it really is time to change things up.

Wow, who knew I'd find inspiration for a post from a David Bowie song? I don't even like David Bowie.
